The D-Day Experience: From The invasion to The Liberation of Paris
$22.00
This is a book that looks at the campaign as a whole, from the beginning of Allied planning to the liberation of Paris. Using the collection of the Imperial Museum and other institutions, I have tried to produce something that reflects the true texture of the campaign, from German situation maps which show how successful the Allied deception plan actually was, to the log book of an RAF Typhoon pilot. These gems of memorabilia, as fresh today as they were in 1944, set this book apart from the scholarly assessments and popular surveys which rise to greet each D-Day anniversary. I hope that when readers handle this primary material, so carefully reproduced here, they will see the events of that long and bloody summer as something more than history.
Containing rare removable documents, memorabilia and an audio CD of veterans’ first-hand accounts
